Towering Heels

♥ I am a footwear fanatic...I have loved shoes since I was a young girl.

♥ I have worn heels and sandals, flats and sneakers, flip flops and boots...

♥ reading People Style Watch the other night I came across shoes that have over a 5" heel. Yeee Ouch!!!! The very thought of teetering on those makes my calves and my feet hurt, never mind my already fallen arches...

♥ they look lovely..but practical? I'll stick with these lovely little Mudd shoes I bought on the weekend -- on sale for a price I couldn't resist and they are sooooo comfy...

What Not To Name Your Baby...

♥ in a "what were they thinking" post, I discovered this AP article in today's newspaper...

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – A family court judge in New Zealand has had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names and did something about it.

Just ask Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

He had her renamed.

In a ruling made public Thursday, judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed.

He said the girl was involved in a custody battle.

The new name was not made public to protect the girl's privacy.

"The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child's parents have shown in choosing this name," he wrote. "It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily."

The girl had been so embarrassed at the name that she had never told her closest friends what it was. She told people to call her ``K" instead, the girl's lawyer, Colleen MacLeod, told the court.

In his ruling, Murfitt cited a list of other unfortunate names.

Registration officials blocked some names, including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit, he said. But others were allowed, including Number 16 Bus Shelter "and tragically, Violence," he said.

New Zealand law does not allow names that would cause offense to a reasonable person, among other conditions, said Brian Clarke, the registrar general of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Clarke said officials usually talked to parents who proposed unusual names to convince them about the potential for embarrassment.

Fashionista

♥ It's no secret that I love fashion -- I love shoes, purses, accessories and I love clothing...

♥ There are brands that I like to explore, specifically ones that are not carried here in Canada...

♥ So while in Brockport/Rochester on the weekend, I wandered into J.C. Penney (which we do not have in Canada) and explored a design I like, Bisou-Bisou by Michele Bohbot which is carried exclusively by J.C. Penney...

♥ I found a wonderful blouse with 3/4 length balloon sleeves and it fits me like a dream...

♥ Best part? It was on the final clearance rack -- originally $36, marked down to $6.97 with an additional 20% off -- I paid a total of $5.85 for this lovely blouse...

♥ Now I ask you -- why can't we have sales like this in Canada?!?!?!?!?! Hello Ottawa?? Can you hear me now?????
